More Possibilities

What else can SOFiSTiK do?

At SOFiSTiK, we also look beyond our core functionalities in building and bridge construction: Our software is continuously being developed to offer you not only proven functions, but also in-depth tools for related and more complex topics. Whether special analyses or innovative calculation methods - SOFiSTiK grows with your requirements and opens up new possibilities for your projects.

Life Cycle Assessment

The construction and building sector accounts for a significant proportion of global CO₂ emissions and resource use. Our LCA tool integrates seamlessly into your workflows and enables a transparent analysis of the environmental impact of different variants. The LCA is part of all three FEM packages of the latest SOFiSTiK pricing and license model.

Highlights

  • New task Life Cycle Assessment allows to estimate the environmental impact of your structural model.
  • Definition of Global Warming Potential (GWP) values per life cycle phase for the materials in the system
  • GWP assessment for the different phases with consideration of calculated reinforcement from the design
  • Result output for: material, groups, secondary groups and design element types
  • Connection to the database ÖKOBAUDAT from the German Federal Ministry for Housing, Urban Development and Building (BMWSB) (DIN EN 15804+A1 and +A2)
  • Compare the results of different variants by exporting them into one Excel file.

Fire Design

The FEM packages contain the typical fire protection verifications for columns (EN 1992-1-2 Table 5.2a and Equation 5.7) in the component design. COLUMN-FD extends the checks for reinforced concrete columns with standard cross-sections (circular and rectangular) to the general method (with non-linear stiffnesses and "double bookkeeping" according to Quast). In addition, we offer precise thermal analyses to determine temperature distributions in 2D for the typical critical section checks with reinforcement temperatures and checks under fire (HYDRA-T). This extension then also enables the fire design of any column cross-sections (e.g. composite columns) according to the economical and validated general method with any fire duration and other fire models (e.g. natural fire curves).

Reliability Analysis

The SOFiSTiK module RELY performs reliability analyses of engineering structures modelled by finite elements.

Highlights

  • Implemented reliability analysis tools in RELY are in full compliance with Annex C of Eurocode 0.

  • State-of-the-art reliability methods based on the leading stand-alone software STRUREL.

  • Reliability sensitivity analysis
  • Computation of equivalent partial safety factors

RELY can be particularly useful to assess the safety of ...

  • existing structures
  • structures not covered by the codes
  • precast concrete elements
