The highlights of version SOFiSTiK | 2023

Software that puts you in the driver’s seat - Experience the most adaptive SOFiSTiK version yet.

SOFiSTiK | 2023 stands for a noticeable increase in user control. Thanks to the new automatic generation of the analytical model, you get faster to member design based on the main model. At the same time, design elements are now universally supported, allowing a higher degree of flexibility in the choice of your preferred SOFiSTiK tools for modeling. Improvements in the traceability of results and new functionalities for data transfer round off version 2023 and make your work more transparent, from the model to member design up to plot generation.

Discover the highlights of the new version in our focus areas:

Analysis Buildings

New starter package 3D FEM professional

  • Extended licence package for BIM building workflows
  • Finite Element Analysis and building design with modeling in Autodesk® Revit® or AutoCAD®
  • Includes the new SOFiSTiK Analytical Model Generator
  • Full support of Revit’s new autonomous analytical model with the interface “Analysis + Design for Revit”
  • Includes the newest elements for building design such as wall strip and slab strip elements
  • Contains all features for member design (columns, beams,…)

Get faster to the analytical model with the SOFiSTiK Analytical Model Generator

  • As of Autodesk Revit 2023, the analytical model has to be generated manually. The SOFiSTiK Analytical Model Generator creates an analytical model automatically in no time
  • Model remains digitally consistent: Properties are adopted from the BIM model and links between the analytical and the BIM model are created
  • Wide configuration options allow to customize the process in order to e.g. generate different analytical models for different design purposes

Flexible workflows: Create design elements with SOFiPLUS

  • Design elements can now also be defined within SOFiPLUS(-X). Definition is possible as generic line element with start and end point or following an axis
  • Supports import of all design elements defined in Revit
  • Design elements are required for several member design workflows (shear walls, beams, …)

Combine loads and results faster and with more transparency

  • Improved tasks “Combine Loads” and “Combine Results”
  • Simplified workflow for automatic load combinations
  • Faster overview of existing load combinations

Full control through transparent results: Improvements for Task RSA reloaded

  • Focus on essential results without indirection and identification of structural parts that are decisive for the seismic performance of the structure
  • Transparent tracing of the genesis of selected results of interest throughout the modal and directional combination workflow
  • Easy switch between different combination approaches for comparison

Create individual result reports

  • Flexible reporting with new functionalities for user-defined result reports
  • Reports from single tasks can be summarized and sorted as required

Modeling Buildings

BIM to Field: Match reinforcement plans with the construction process on site using RC

  • Organize your reinforcement marks and schedules according to the construction process on site
  • New criteria to consider rebar layer and member for the equality check of marks
  • New option to set marks with increments for a desired criteria
  • Several new possibilities to create reinforcement schedules according to certain criteria

Use RC to split rebars fast and easy according to bonding conditions

  • Split rebars and apply automatically overlapping lengths considering concrete bonding condition
  • Three new commands allow intelligent spliting based on common patterns or user-defined splitting lines

Work comfortably with rebar couplers and their corresponding bar end treatments

  • New intelligent dependencies between couplers and bar ends open up a decisive, unprecedented convenience compared to the classic CAD way of working
  • Symbolic representation for different end treatments with or without couplers on rebar shape details
  • Production instructions and order lists, derived from the model, continuous up to the rebar schedule

Analysis Bridges

Use the advanced axis-based parametric with the improved CABD concept

  • This is our proven CABD technology: Axis-based input with parametric master cross sections. Variables and formulas allow the description of complex models with automatic FE meshing. Applicable to all bridge types.
  • Variable edge thickness for structural areas offers a quick and smooth definition of complicated slab structures
  • Improvements traffic loads:
    • Influence lines can now be evaluated for load trains with different wheel distances (e.g. use case LM3 with additional LM1 in the same lane) also for QUAD and hybrid systems
    • Eccentricity range in cross-direction for the load train can be specified in the Traffic Loader

High-end pushover workflow for international design

  • Automated analysis of cross-sectional deformation and cross-sectional capacity characteristics for generating a consistent material model for a lumped plastic hinge
  • Can be adopted in a downstream pushover analysis to assess the deformation and energy dissipation characteristics of the structure in case of a seismic event
  • High transparency for all results

Higher efficiency and transparency with improved tendon definition and report

  • A tendon can run through beam AND quad elements
  • If you want to select the elements with which a tendon is to be intersected, you can use the new group control
  • Prestressing limits according to AASHTO
  • Export to .dat for prestressing systems and tendons
  • New improved tendon report and cross section view with tendons in results

Modeling Bridges

On the way to the digital twin: Dynamo with SBIM functionalities

Wide-ranging improvements for infrastructure projects in the railway context and beyond

  • Curve dimensions in plane view and section cuts
  • Modelling placement rotation with “Void Cut”
  • Axis: additional angle between each alignment entity
  • Axis from curve/projection support multi-select and creates polycurves
  • Import axis with a kink
