The Talbrücke Thulba, which is being constructed using modern steel composite construction methods, spans the valley at a height of up to 52 m and is divided into seven sections, each with an individual span of up to 90 m. The open steel box girders are assembled using the incremental launching method and then supplemented with in-situ concrete deck slabs, making it an efficient construction method for viaducts.

As the existing structure was built with a single-piece superstructure, the first new section must be constructed in a lateral position. Only once the old structure has been completely dismantled can the second section be built. Finally, the superstructure, initially erected laterally, is moved transversely into its final position. In the final step, the temporary substructures that secure this construction phase are removed.

As part of the structural analysis for approval, detailed models of the superstructure and substructures, including the foundations, were designed, and the transverse and longitudinal displacement was calculated using SOFiSTiK AG modules.
