SOFiSTiK is the heart of the structural engineering for the development of the Lausanne train station as part of the Léman 2030 program.

As part of the project to transform Lausanne railway station, CSD Engineers used SOFiSTiK software to carry out structural studies, in particular for the Épinettes building, a new parking structure presenting complex technical challenges.

This building, which interacts directly with the railway infrastructure, has several singular points that required detailed finite element modeling. The general model had to integrate a range of specific constraints, in particular those linked to the railway slab, which is subject to the loads of rail traffic.

The structure also had to adapt to the architectural load-bearing elements – the Z-shaped “central blades” – as well as to the geotechnical constraints of the surrounding area. To this must be added the prefabricated elements of the facade modenature, to be integrated coherently into the overall model.

Thanks to the parametric modeling power offered by SOFiSTiK, CSD was able to meet all these challenges with precision and rigor, while mastering the specific constraints of the project.
