The Crissier pedestrian and cyclist bridge, located in the Canton of Vaud, Switzerland, crosses the cantonal road RC 179 to connect the rapidly developing districts of Oassis and Esparcettes.
The deck consists of a steel box girder topped with a thin layer of UHPFRC acting compositely with the steel structure.
The bridge is designed almost like a diving board, in order to limit the loads transmitted to the existing building at one of its ends.
The UHPFRC serves three functions — a structural, waterproofing, and wearing surface — eliminating the need for traditional asphalt and PMMA layers.
The 35 mm thick UHPFRC structural layer enhances both the stiffness and the long-term durability of the deck.
