The new Hakaniemensilta Bridge is part of Helsinki Crown Bridges project that will promote sustainability by creating new routes for pedestrians, cyclists and public transport. The walking and cycling lanes on each side of the bridge connect smoothly to the waterfronts as well as the larger cycling route network.

  • Length: 230 m
  • Main span: 89 m / 94 m
  • Width: 31,3 m
  • Waterway height: 4,5 m (MW)
  • Traffic: 30 000 vehicles / day

The long main span of the bridge has been achieved through light-weight composite girder structure and stiff anchoring with tendon cables at the other end. Due to this solution, high structural elements have been avoided, and the bridge fits in delicately with the surrounding cityscape.

  • 1,2 million kilograms of reinforcing steel
  • 6000 square meters of concrete
  • 2900 different steel components
  • 1,0 million kilograms of structural steel
