SOFiSTiK launches SOFiSTiK | 2018: new versions of proven structural analysis and CAD software and modular BIM apps now available

Construction software developer SOFiSTiK has launched SOFiSTiK | 2018. The new versions of the company's structural engineering and CAD software together with its BIM apps bring new features, enhanced usability, and optimized performance.
SOFiSTiK | 2018 now ships with more interfaces. In addition to the standard interfaces for all the major modeling applications including Autodesk, AutoCAD, Revit, Rhinoceros and WinTUBE, the added interfaces offer better integration with standard office applications such as Microsoft Word and Excel for evaluation and documentation purposes. In addition to PLB export, DOCX can also be selected for basic documentation. In addition to German and English, French can now also be selected for exports and as a user interface language.
The SOFiSTiK Application Manager (SAM) also makes its debut, offering a modern user interface to handle installation, deinstallation, and updates. With SAM, users and system administrators are able to keep track of currently installed products and any updates that become available for them. It also allows structural engineering firms to use the SOFiSTiK portfolio to build an application environment that meets all of their needs. The wide range of licensing options is designed to offer as much flexibility as possible.
The interface to Autodesk Revit Structure has also been completely revamped. One of the additions to the software's structural analysis capabilities is the new Analytical Check feature, which simplifies the generation of a functional structural model. This is an example of how SOFiSTiK is ensuring its users have access to the latest advances in Building Information Modelling (BIM) for structural analysis with its latest release.
BIM continues to make inroads, particularly for infrastructure projects. When SOFiSTiK launched its pioneering FE software and Reinforcement Detailing — a tool for generating 2D reinforcement plans with rebar schedules from 3D reinforcement drawings — it was ahead of its time. That laid the foundation for complex bridge construction planning to follow. In this space, an upcoming product will soon bridge the gap between the parametric structural model and 3D construction planning in Revit.
