- Construction software maker plans and implements new office facility with Building Information Modeling (BIM)
- Anniversary celebrations, groundbreaking for the new office building, and virtual tour of the new facilities
Nuremberg, July 31, 2017 — SOFiSTiK AG celebrated its 30-year company anniversary by breaking ground on a new office building in Nuremberg. 30 years after the successful construction software maker’s founding nearly to the day, SOFiSTiK has started work on its own innovative construction project. The new facility will be completely planned and implemented using building information modeling (BIM) and SOFiSTiK’s own construction software.
The anniversary celebrations and official start of construction took place on the north side of Nuremberg on July 21, 2017, a beautiful summer day. Employees, neighbors, the former owner of the property, customers, and SOFiSTiK partners attended the symbolic groundbreaking. Attending in addition to SOFiSTiK and many of the employees who will work in the new building were representatives from the construction company Wolff & Müller, architectural firm Wabe-Plan, structural engineering firm Boll und Partner, and building technology specialists gm planen+beraten.
The event was opened by four short presentations covering the following topics: SOFiSTiK’s history and success; the advantages of BIM technology for the construction industry; the new office building project; and SOFiSTiK’s role as an attractive employer and hidden champion of the region. Next, attendees had an opportunity to take a virtual tour and get a better look at the building by experiencing it through a virtual reality headset.
“We’re very pleased to be able to present our new building at our 30-year company anniversary and celebrate the groundbreaking at the construction site,” said Thomas Fink, chairman of the board of SOFiSTiK AG. “Of course we’re going to use BIM for the project — SOFiSTiK is the pioneer of building information modeling in Germany, and we truly believe in the advantages of using this method. I’d like to extend a special thanks to our employees for getting us this far and to our partners, who are out there using BIM for their projects.”
