Supported Elements and Mapping¶
The following table provides an overview of Revit elements supported by SOFiSTiK Analysis + Design:
Revit Elements |
Supported |
Notes |
---|---|---|
Materials |
Partially |
SOFiSTiK Analysis + Design automatically maps Revit Materials to SOFiSTiK materials, based on the physical properties of the material in Revit. |
Sections |
Partially |
SOFiSTiK Analysis + Design automatically identifies the sectional geometry of columns and structural framings and maps them to SOFiSTiK cross sections. Varying sections are supported for structural framing if the start and end section have the same number of edges. |
Grid Lines |
Straight and curved grid lines are exported to SOFiSTiK for visualization in Graphic (only useful in the mode SOFiSTiK Analysis + Design with interface to SOFiSTiK FEA). |
|
Storey Levels |
Level information can be transferred to SOFiSTiK if identified with the parameter SOFiSTiK_Level. |

Structural Framing |
||
Trusses |
Partially |
The geometry and sections of the truss are recognized. Normal beam elements are created based on this information. |
Braces |
Partially |
The geometry and section of the bracing element are recognized. Normal beam elements are created based on this information. |

||
Walls |
Straight and curved walls including openings are supported. |
|
Floors |
Horizontal and sloped floors with any kind of boundary or opening geometry are supported. Varying thicknesses only considered for simple shapes. |
|
Foundations |
Foundation elements are ignored. |
|
Boundary Conditions |
Elastic and rigid support conditions are supported in global as well as local coordinates. |
|
Analytical Nodes |
Analytical nodes having a Revit node number and visible in the active view will generate a SOFiSTiK Structural Point in the Finite Element model |
|
Rigid Links |

Point Loads |
Hosted and non-hosted point loads are supported. |
|
Line Loads |
Hosted and non-hosted line loads are supported. |
|
Area Loads |
Hosted and non-hosted area loads are supported. |
|
Load Natures |
SOFiSTiK Analysis + Design maps Revit Load Natures to SOFiSTiK Actions bases on the load natures title. |
