SOFiSTiK Infrastructure Extension (SiX) enhances Computer Aided Bridge Design concept by creating a 3D model represantation of the stucture in Autodesk Revit software. SiX tool supports a BIM concept, where 3D model is a data source for planning and construction.

Functionalities at a glance

  • Creates a 3D solid model of all structures that are created using Structural Lines (SLNs) in SOFiSTiK

  • Supported object types: DirectShapes, Freeform Family Instance, Parametric Adaptive Component

  • Creates contour line for further detailing of curved surfaces

  • Mapping of materials and categories

  • Creates grid lines, sections and additional symbols along the main axis at the placement points

  • Creates a grid in a position of main axis

  • Creates tendons as Freeform Rebars

  • Creates parapets and railings



After installation of SOFiSTiK Infrastructure Extension an additional ribbon panel “SOFiSTiK Infrastructure Extension” will appear in the ribbon tab “Add-Ins” which provides access to the program tools.


Holding the cursor over a tool on the ribbon a tooltip is displayed. The tooltip provides a brief description of the tool. While the tooltip is visible, you can press F1 to open the help that gives more information.


The process to generate a 3D Bridge Model using SOFiSTiK Infrastructure Extension can be structured in the following points:

  1. Define a bridge geometry using SOFiPLUS or CADINP according to CADB concept. CDB file will be created.

  2. Save and close your SOFiSTiK project.

  3. Open Revit and click on ‘Bridge Model’ icon in SOFiSTiK Infrastructure Extension in Add-Ins tab.

  4. Select CDB file of your bridge, choose additional settings and click OK buttom.

  5. Using SiX and Revit funktionalities, you can continue on modeling the structure and prepare the plans and further documentation.
