PHYSICA - Multiphysics for Structural & Civil Engineering
SOFiSTiK has integrated the CFD-code PHYSICA into the SOFiSTiK enviroment.
PHYSICA is a program for the analysis of complex physical phenomena, which are closely coupled and it is a general unstructured 3D Finite Element Volume Solver.
PHYSICA con solve the following tasks:
- Fluid mechanic (Navier−Stokes equations)
- Turbulence models for high Reynold numbers
- Free Surfaces for Fluids
- Heat Conduction and Convection
- Combustion
- Melting and Solidification
- Elasticity and plasticity of solids
As part of this integration, the advanced engineer can use the SOFiSTiK database (CDB), the mesher (SOFiMSHB), TEDDY and of course Animator and WinGRAF together with the CFD-Code. That means PHYSICA is completely integrated into the SOFiSTiK working environment.
One of the main engineering task is the wind analysis of structures (buildings, bridges). The user will not only get fluid velocities and pressure-values but the result will also be converted into nodal-loads for SOFiLOAD in order to do a static analysis.
