Hi there,

I have a following problem during combination setting. I have two permanent loads with different factors:

+prog maxima[/color]
head permanent combination
ECHO LOAD,FACT
COMB 2 EXPL TYPE DESI TITL 'permanent combination'

ADD G_1 Facu 1.2 facf 0.9
ADD G_2 Facu 1.5 facf 0.9

SUPP 2 MAmi etyp NODE Type p,MX,MY,MZ LC 2601

END

unfortunatelly, it sums results according to the following formula: Max = 1.2*G_1 + 1.5*G_2 and Min = 0.9*G_1 + 0.9*G_2 even when they have different signs (for example G_1=-1000kN, G_2=2000kN) . How to set combination rules taking into account that one action is opposite to the second one, and "maxima" solves it Max = 0.9*G_1 + 1.5*G_2 if it gives the most unfavourable value? I would be grateful for your help.

Best regards

Very likely "G_1" and "G_2" are defined using SUP=PERM. In this case MAXIMA selects the factor after summing the loadcases (see manual MAXIMA - ACT "safety factor action-wise").

Using SUP=PERC MAXIMA will use the factors for each loadcase separately.

gmay
