Hi there,

is it possible to make an area element which is only applied for load distribution to the neighbor beam elements and not participate in in-plane and -out-of-plane stiffness of the whole structure?
The target is analyzing the beam structure only and the area elements would simplify the loading procedure.

I would appreciate if somebody gives me a tip.

3.16 LAR – Load Distribution Areas

Load distribution areas for beam systems can be generated with the record LAR.
So it is possible to define free point, line and area loads at their action position.

These loads are converted then via load distribution areas into equivalent beam
loads acting on the corresponding beams.

Maybe you can use a Quad element with property NRA (Element Stiffness formulation) set to 0. This should create a Quad element with no stiffness but good for loading. It will distribute the loads to the nodes, not to the beams...
