The 1.455 km long bridge in Abu Dhabi to Saadiyat Island (Island of Luck) has to serve for light railway and motortraffic and is the link between the city of Abu Dhabi and the new to be developed Saadiyat Island. The bridge is 57.4m wide, has a distribution deck and approach ramps on the island side.
The bridge consists of 6 units with different errection methods.
Unit 1:
3 boxgirders each of 18.55 m width errected by incremental launching one by one and connected to a jointless deckand is 440.0m long.
Unit2:
3 boxgirders each of 18.55 m width errected by balanced cantilever method with spans of 110-200-135-70-45=560.0m on 4 piers, two are V-shaped. The 3 boxgirders form in the end a jointless deck. The callenge is to predict the deflection of each box girder with different completion time to form a jointless deck.
Unit 3:
The lane distribution bridge 100.0m lenth up to 78.46m width is a hollow-box-plate which is errected in three parts on scaffolding.
Unit 4:
One boxgirder for each direction as approach ramp 355.0m lenth. Errection span by span on scaffolding.
Unit 5:
One boxgirder for the light rail with spans and errection like Unit 4.
Unit 6:
One boxgirder for each direction as approach ramp with 210.0m lenth. Errection span by span on scaffolding.
